COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Multiple shots have been fired on Saturday near a cafe in Copenhagen that hosted an organized freedom of speech event. The even was organized by the Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who has already faced threats for caricaturing the Prophet Muhammad.
As of late, this has been condemned as another terrorist attack by the French foreign prime minister. One of the organizers of the event, Helle Merete Brix, told the Associated Press that Vilks was at the meeting, but he was not injured.
“People actually reacted very calmly, and the meeting continued. We could not get away, so we continued our discussion,” Brix says to TV2 News.
“I clearly consider this as an attack on Lars Vilks,” she also says, saying she was taken away with Vilks by a Danish guard he hires whenever he visits Denmark. After this incident, he has every reason to.
